چکیده

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are hazardous to the environment and human health. Thus, tremendous effort has gone into developing effective/efficient techniques for separation of VOCs from their aqueous mixtures. In this work, a simple versatile strategy was proposed fabricate new material hydrophobic VOC separations, in which self-assembling hydrogel consisting TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibers (TOCNs) cationic guar gum (CGG) used. Specifically, TOCNs CGG were deposited onto filter paper via layer-by-layer procedure, resulting TOCN/CGG hydrogel-coated filtering material, no crosslinking agent The is spontaneously formed by electrostatic interactions hydrogen bonding. as-prepared exhibits oil-repellence underwater oleophobicity formation hydration layer on hydrogel, thus demonstrating good performance. One-layer coating (dried mass 0.032 g·m− 2) proved realize (separation efficiency around 99 % water flux as high 905.14 L·m− 2·h− 1). Further increase layers negligible influence although it decreases flux. This also stability during recycling. Consequently, great potential VOCs-contaminated wastewater treatment.

Volatile Organic Compounds Removal Methods: A Review

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are among the most toxic chemicals which are detrimental to humans and environment. There is a significant need of fully satisfactory method for removal of VOCs. There are several methods including physical, chemical and biological treatments available to remove VOCs by either recovery or destruction. The aim of the present study is to summarize the available m...

Catalytic Removal of Volatile Organic Compounds

The degradation of air quality by the release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air particularly harms human health and our environment. Regulation of outdoor VOC emissions is required to prevent the formation of ground-level ozone, which is principally responsible for photochemical smog. Indoor emissions of VOCs have been the subject of recent consideration for many governments aro...

Removal of Indoor Volatile Organic Compounds

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and formaldehyde are ubiquitous in indoor environment. 16 Inhalation of VOCs can cause irritations, difficulty breathing, and nausea, and damage the central 17 nervous system as well as other organs. Formaldehyde is even a carcinogen. Removal of VOCs and 18 formaldehyde is thus critical to control indoor air quality (IAQ). Photocatalytic oxidation has been 19 d...

Removal of hydrophobic Volatile Organic Compounds

23 Since usual processes involve water as absorbent, they appear not always really efficient for the treatment of 24 hydrophobic VOC. Recently, absorption and biodegradation coupling in a two-phase partitioning bioreactor (TPPB) 25 proved to be a promising technology for hydrophobic compound treatment. The choice of the organic phase, the non26 aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) is based on various pa...
